Functional Motion
Posture, Pain Relief & Better Movement
In Person at Goodson Recreation Center & Live on Zoom
Functional Motion is a gentle but powerful posture-based movement class designed to help your body move with better alignment, balance, strength, and ease.
If you feel stiff, achy, out of balance, or simply don’t move the way you used to, this class helps address how your whole body is working together rather than simply focusing on the area that hurts.
Using posture-based corrective exercises and functional movement, we work to restore balance throughout the body so everyday activities—walking, standing, climbing stairs, getting up from the floor, exercising, traveling, and simply moving through your day—can feel easier and more natural.
This isn’t a workout you have to push through. It’s a class designed to change how your body moves and supports itself.
Feel Better. Move Better. Stay Active.
Functional Motion can be especially helpful for:
Back, neck, hip, knee, shoulder, or foot discomfort
Stiffness or limited mobility
Poor posture or muscular imbalance
Balance concerns
Recurring aches and pains
Feeling less confident in your movement
Staying strong, mobile, and independent as you age
Men and women of all ages attend Functional Motion. You do not need to be especially fit or flexible to participate.
The movements are intentional and approachable, but don’t mistake gentle for ineffective. Small changes in alignment and muscle function can make a remarkable difference in how your entire body feels and moves.
What Students Are Saying
“I was in physical therapy for two years. I needed it at the time. However, I found that, for me, Stasia’s pain free Functional Motion class was even more beneficial.
I’ve come to rely on it to help me and my aging body move more effectively and less painfully. The class itself is not hard in any way. But the results are amazing.
I highly recommend Stasia’s Functional Motion class if you have joint, fascia, connective tissue body pain and mobility challenges.”
— Sandy Blaha
Why Functional Motion Is Different
Stasia is a Certified Postural Therapist through the Egoscue Institute and teaches Pete Egoscue’s method of corrective exercise.
Rather than simply exercising the muscles that are already doing most of the work, Functional Motion uses specific positions and movements to help wake up underused muscles, restore alignment, and improve the way the body functions as a whole.
Students frequently describe leaving class feeling:
“Better. Balanced. Lighter. Taller. Straighter. Looser. Confident. Energized.”
And sometimes the biggest results show up when you least expect them.
“Recently, we went to an exhibit and, as we were looking for the venue, we didn’t notice the California curb and Mike stumbled through it without falling. His comment was, ‘Thank goodness we have been taking Stasia’s class otherwise I would have fallen.’
We find muscles in every class that have been snoozing and are now awake, keeping us upright and moving forward. Love Stasia and her classes!”
— Sue Carlton-Smith
Functional Motion has been offered at South Suburban Recreation Centers for over six years, with many students returning session after session.

One Squarespace formatting note
I would make “In-Person Functional Motion at Goodson” and “Live Zoom Functional Motion” your two biggest visual section headings after the main page title. That separation is useful—not clutter. People should never have to wonder whether the date/link they're clicking is Goodson or Zoom.
