Functional Motion Classes

Functional Motion is a gentle, powerful class that helps your body return to balance through posture-based movement. Each session is built around alignment and functional exercises that teach your body how to support itself again—so standing, walking, and everyday movement begin to feel easier and more natural.

This is not a workout you “push through.” It’s a class that quietly changes how your body works.

Stasia is a certified Postural Therapist through the Egoscue Institute and teaches Pete Egoscue’s method of corrective exercise. These movements are designed to restore alignment, improve balance and strength, and reduce the strain that causes chronic and recurring pain.

Functional Motion has been offered at South Suburban Recreation Centers for over six years, and many students have been attending since the very beginning.

What This Class Can Help With

Functional Motion is designed to gently retrain the body and is especially helpful for:

  • Back, neck, hip, knee, and foot pain

  • Poor posture or imbalance

  • Feeling stiff, guarded, or uncertain in movement

  • Wanting to age with confidence and stability

  • Anyone who wants to feel more at ease in their body

Men and women of all ages attend this class. The work is subtle, but the changes reach into everyday life—how you stand at the counter, walk the dog, get out of a chair, or carry yourself through the day.


In-Person Classes @ Goodson

These classes are very popular and typically fill two to three weeks in advance, so signing up early is the best way to guarantee your space. I always open the doors at least 10 minutes before class begins so you can arrive, get settled, and be ready to start on time. Goodson provides all necessary equipment, including a chair, yoga mat, yoga strap, and yoga block.

Zoom Functional Motion

The Zoom class follows the same structure, days, and times as the in-person classes. You’ll receive the same guidance and experience—just from the comfort of home.
